5 on Friday

1. Nick went in to check on Ellie last night.   Only she wasn't asleep in her bed... she was sleeping UNDER her bed.   Guess we will be talking about where we can and cannot sleep.

2. Last Friday Grandma and Grandpa Greving joined Ellie and Neve at day-care for "Special Person's Day."  We celebrated Ellie filling up a decent portion of her 'responsibility chart' and went out for lunch after the event.  I think everyone had a great time. 

3. We watch the ISU/Iowa game with a bunch of ISU fans.   We had fun, but would have enjoyed a slightly different outcome.  No matter who wins the Iowa/UNI game we will be happy, as I graduated from both of those colleges.  The girls did wear their Iowa attire to day-care today though.

4. Neve outgrew her bouncy seat.   As a result, we picked up a high-chair last weekend.  She enjoys sitting in it and watching us eat dinner at the dinner table.

5. This morning I asked Ellie if she wanted to go out for dinner tomorrow night.   She nodded her head immediately and stated, "With Grandma and Grandpa."   We must not go out to eat with just our immediate family very often.  Sorry Ellie, you are stuck with just your Mommy, Daddy and sister this time.

Capturing the Hair (and Cute Baby)

Genevieve has slowly been losing her beautiful dark brown baby hair.   I have loved her having it but after Ellie lost hers between 3-4 months, I knew there was a chance Neve's would fall out as well.    I had to capture a few shots before it went away (although I am still hoping it does not all fall out). 

I had this outfit from when Ellie was little.  

I think it is still one of my favorite outfits ever.  

Might be the color, might be the fish, but most likely the babies that wear it!  I love the matching headband.   Looked cute on Ellie when she didn't have hair, and cute on Neve when she does.

These were taken when she was home sick, so her expressions are not all smiles and happy like she usually is.  But she is cute still the same.

Neve in the laundry basket for her 5-month photo shoot.   We have been taking laundry basket photos each month so we can look back and see how much she has grown.  Unfortunately, we had to get new laundry baskets between month 2 and month 3.   But it still works.

Yikes...

Nick and I were not ready to see this at such a young age...

Ellie 'caught' with a boy in her bed!

It is her friend, Henry!  At least he isn't trying to hide.

Ellie's friend, Henry, came over to play.  Given the limited space and toys in the condo, they must have thought the bed was a fun place to play.  Ellie's Daddy went into see what they were up to and had to snap a few shots of what he saw.  At least we know Henry's parents.

Ellie's First Haircut

I broke down and scheduled Ellie for her first haircut.   I didn't want to get it cut because:

A) I want her hair to grow long. 
B) I like the way it still has the baby curl in the back
C) It meant my little girl was growing up!

Ellie on the other hand was really excited for her first haircut.  She wanted it cut like the little boy at day-care... short.   Yeah, that was not going to happen. 

I asked my friend where she takes her little girl and she suggested Carly at Clip Art.   Ellie did a great job and Carly was amazing with a 2.5 year old on her first haircut.  Ellie even got a free special bottle of shampoo to take home (because a 2.5 year old needs Paul Mitchell Kids Shampoo!)

The big girl after her first haircut!   Carly must have experience with Mommy's that are not so sure about chopping their daughters hair off because she took just enough off the back to even it up.  

 

Ellie has already asked if she can go back and get her hair cut again.  

Not sure if she wants the haircut, or the sucker and McDonald's McFlurry she got afterwards for listening and following directions.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

The 4th of August was beautiful, high 70's to low 80's for temperature and sunny.  We made the most of it by joining some friends out at Principal Park for an I-Cubs game.    Ellie has been singing, "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" for a number of months already, but had not gone to an actual game.  I think she had fun!

Neve even got to enjoy the ballpark.

At the end of the game, the kids are invited out onto the field to run the bases.   Surprisingly, Ellie made it to the end of the game and wanted to run.  She is the last 'little' kid gong from first to second base (she is in pink)

Unfortunately, she was 'that kid' that decided to forgo third base (and home plate) and ran around the infield.   She was scared and started crying before her Daddy could get to her.   She said she did not want to run the bases next time.

5 on Friday

1. We had a nice Labor Day weekend, complete with a picnic in the park and one last swim at the pool.

2. Today is Grandparent's/Special Person's Day at day-care.   Ellie is pretty excited to have Grandma and Grandpa come to her classroom.

3. Thursday night we were able to get together with one of my college roommates that lives in Arizona.   It was great seeing her, her husband and their 8 week old little baby.

4. Go Hawks!  We enjoyed watching the first win of the season at our friends house. 

5. Neve can now roll from her tummy to her back.  Although she is not a huge fan of her back, so she tends to stay on her tummy.
