5 on Friday

1. We had a nice relaxing weekend finished off with a dinner at friends' house.

2. Nick and I even found time to brew up some beer last weekend!  We were getting a little behind.

3. Neve went to visit the ENT on Monday... and had tubes put in on Thursday.

4. The tubes must be working... Neve took her first steps on Thursday night!   She has also been really, really happy since the surgery.

5. Ellie was really excited to see snow on the ground this morning. I walked into her room, only to find her looking out the window at the snow.

5 on... Sunday

1. Happy belated Valentine's Day!  Ellie was so excited for it and kept asking if tomorrow was going to be Valentine's Day all week.

2. Neve went to the Dr. to check the status of her ears (due to ear infections and the fluid never going away completely).  Sure enough, there was still fluid in her ear.   Off to the ENT we will go tomorrow.

3. I was able to get out and have a fun lunch with my sister last week.  Was nice to have a quiet, relaxful lunch without kiddos.

4. Last Sunday we got together at one of my college friends' house for dinner.  I love seeing the kids interact and it is nice to catch up.

5. Neve is teething.  Which means she is getting up at night.  I really hope that between the top two teeth coming in and tubes for the ears she will start sleeping through the night again.  I miss my sleep.

Grandpa's Train

Liam and Neve were the perfect age for Grandpa's Train at Christmas this year.  They were young enough that they just sat there while Grandpa made the train move on the tracks.  They loved it!

Ellie on the other hand, wanted to put thing in the train and drive it herself (no picture as we were busy stopping her from doing so).

5 on Friday

1. Nick and I had a great date night last Friday night.   Grandma and Grandpa Thorson came to watch the girls while Nick and I grabbed dinner with my sister and her husband and then went to "Book of Mormon."  It was an awesome night!

2. Saturday Nick had an all day bike ride, while the girls and I went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Greving in Ames.

3. Sunday we had a couple friends over for the Super Bowl.  Nothing too fancy and we did not stay up too last since we had little ones that were ready for bed.  It was still a fun time.

4. Neve is teething.   Need I say more?

5. I painted Ellie's fingernails for the first time on Wednesday.  She thinks they are wonderful!

See & Spell

Last night I gave her the option of working on spelling (with her Melissa and Doug See & Spell toy) or reading books.  I figured both of them were educational, and one night without reading was all right.  She picked the See & Spell over reading books.   We worked on identifying the picture (such as a cow), finding the letters that spell cow (C-O-W), putting them in order to actually spell the work and then sounding the word out letter by letter.   She did awesome and did not even need my help!   After we finished with the set amount she begged to do more, so I indulged and let her do another.   To think my oldest baby is on her way to reading and spelling...

5 on Friday

1. Neve has been getting up in the middle of the night and early in the morning.  At first I thought it was because she was still hungry.  So I fed her a bottle after she nursed.   No luck,s he still woke up.   Now I am thinking it is her teeth, although I cannot feel the top ones coming in at all (so this could be a long process).   A little Advil seems to help, but she still gets up crying in the middle of the night.  Poor baby (and Mommy and Daddy).   Looks like Ellie is the only one that gets to sleep through the night for a while.

2. We watch my nephew, Liam, last Friday night.   He fits in so perfectly with the girls and seemed to have a great time. We had all three kiddos in bed (on time) without a single cry.  I was pretty proud.

3. We had a great weekend.  Pretty relaxing for the most part and much needed.

4. At dinner this week I refered to Nick as Father.  Ellie caught on real quick and started calling him Father.   We told her that Mother is the same as Mommy.  She now calls me Mother.  I have to admit, it sounds kind of cute coming from her.

5. Last night Ellie and I were driving back from running some errands.  We were discussing how she was going to see two sets of her Grandparents this weekend.  She informed me that she was going to call Grandpa "Papa" instead of Grandpa.  I told her if she wanted to do that she could and explained how Grandma's are sometimes called Nana, Grandma or Grandmother.  And Grandpa's are sometimes called Papa, Grandpa or Grandfather. This morning at breakfast she informed me she was going to call Grandma "Apple".   I told her that Apple was not a name we call our grandma's.   So, Mom and Linda--- now you know just in case she calls you Apple.
