1. I officially became another year older on Saturday. To celebrate we went on a family run, relaxed, went to the mall and had a Dairy Queen ice cream cake! I also got the perfect present from Nick and the girls, my very own "Samantha" American Girl Doll. It may seem a little odd, but I always wanted one as a child (but really didn't need one). This way I have my very own doll to play with when Ellie and I play dolls (and Neve when she gets older). Of course the minute I got it Ellie asked if she could play with it. I shared my doll with her. Good job on the surprise gift, Nick!
2. Nick had a bike ride on Sunday, so the girls and I went to the mall after nap-time. We always get lots of compliments on our Chariot stroller/bike trailer when we are out and about (including our trip on Sunday). We love the Chariot, as it fits both girls side by side, isn't too big, and works for biking and walking. We got the sling attachment, so Neve can still use it until she is able to sit up a little better. After we had the fire we went from 4 different strollers to one (although we had the Chariot before the fire, so we just did not replace the other 3 strollers). To give credit where credit is due: Nick picked it out.
3. I introduced Ellie to "Cinderella" this week. Since she is not a fan of movies with scary characters in it, I thought this would be a good princess movie for her. She only lasts 20 minutes before she wants me to turn it off, but she does ask to watch it the next day. I am glad she likes it.
4. Neve got sick starting on Tuesday. Poor baby was just sick last week! She had a fever and really bad cold. This is the first time she has been really cuddly and not at all like her normal self for an extended period of time. I love the cuddles but am glad she is feeling a little better today.
5.We have furniture being delivered to the house on the 13th. We are counting down the days.

5 on Friday
1. We had a busy weekend with a Fisher Price House Party play-date Saturday morning, baby shower Saturday afternoon and visitation for my Uncle on Sunday afternoon.
2. My Uncle's funeral was on Monday here in West Des Moines, with the burial in West Bend, Iowa. My brothers, sister and I made the trip to West Bend in one car, leaving the spouses at home to take care of the kiddos. While it was a sad occasion, it was really nice to be able to spend time with just the four of us--- I do not remember the last time that happened.
3. Genevieve came down with a slight fever Monday afternoon. She was fine, but it was high enough that Nick had to pick her up from day-care early. She stayed home from day-care on Tuesday. I think she just wanted to spend time with Daddy on her "six-month Birthday."
4. Yup, we have a 6-month old! I cannot believe how fast the past 6 months have gone, Genevieve has grown up so much! She is at such a fun stage. Old enough to smile, giggle and interact, but young enough that she still gives cuddles and can be held in my arms. LOVE that little girl!
5. Ellie's response to my Uncle passing and seeing my Aunt, "I will give her a hug... I will give her two hugs. Then she will be happy." If only it were that easy. Although, hugs from a 2.5 year old do help.

5 on Friday
1. Genevieve started eating cereal on Sunday. On Thursday she had her first taste of sweet peas. She loves them both!
2. I had a great time at Stamp Club on Tuesday. We made some really cute candy related items and I got some wonderful ideas for party favors, one of which I plan to use for Ellie's 3rd birthday.
3. On Thursday I received an unexpected call that my uncle, Craig, had passed away. As Ellie asked why I missed my uncle, I thought how the first time Nick met the Yoch Family, Uncle Craig had him refilling his red wine glass most of the morning/early afternoon... Uncle Craig loved his red wine. And how Uncle Craig was so eager to kiss my feet at our wedding after my brothers' kissed my nieces' feet (it was a version of "how you kiss is how we kiss".) And how Uncle Craig enjoyed watching Bloomberg TV, who else besides me and my co-workers enjoy watching Bloomberg TV?! And the list could go on. The point is, I miss him and am sad for the loss because he gave me/us so many wonderful memories when he was here on earth with us, and there will not be any more new memories. That being said, he made an impact on me and I cherish the time I had with him. We will meet again, and until then he will be enjoying cocktail hour in heaven with Grandpa Yoch.

5. Before I left on Tuesday night, I told Ellie to make sure that Daddy fed Genevieve (since we had just started introducing cereal and I thought Nick might get busy playing and forget). I guess Ellie took her responsibility to heart, as she asked Daddy constantly if they could feed Neve her cereal. Of course when they did go to feed Neve, Daddy did not know where the bibs were. No worries, Ellie showed him!

5 on Friday
1. Nick went in to check on Ellie last night. Only she wasn't asleep in her bed... she was sleeping UNDER her bed. Guess we will be talking about where we can and cannot sleep.
2. Last Friday Grandma and Grandpa Greving joined Ellie and Neve at day-care for "Special Person's Day." We celebrated Ellie filling up a decent portion of her 'responsibility chart' and went out for lunch after the event. I think everyone had a great time.
3. We watch the ISU/Iowa game with a bunch of ISU fans. We had fun, but would have enjoyed a slightly different outcome. No matter who wins the Iowa/UNI game we will be happy, as I graduated from both of those colleges. The girls did wear their Iowa attire to day-care today though.
4. Neve outgrew her bouncy seat. As a result, we picked up a high-chair last weekend. She enjoys sitting in it and watching us eat dinner at the dinner table.
5. This morning I asked Ellie if she wanted to go out for dinner tomorrow night. She nodded her head immediately and stated, "With Grandma and Grandpa." We must not go out to eat with just our immediate family very often. Sorry Ellie, you are stuck with just your Mommy, Daddy and sister this time.

5 on Friday
1. We had a nice Labor Day weekend, complete with a picnic in the park and one last swim at the pool.
2. Today is Grandparent's/Special Person's Day at day-care. Ellie is pretty excited to have Grandma and Grandpa come to her classroom.
3. Thursday night we were able to get together with one of my college roommates that lives in Arizona. It was great seeing her, her husband and their 8 week old little baby.
4. Go Hawks! We enjoyed watching the first win of the season at our friends house.
5. Neve can now roll from her tummy to her back. Although she is not a huge fan of her back, so she tends to stay on her tummy.

5 on Friday
1. Nick and I went out for 'date night'on Friday. My boss had given me a gift certificate, so we thought it was a perfect time to hire a babysitter (second time we have had a non-family/friend sitter, ever). Ellie was VERY excited for Miss Andrea from day-care to come to her condo and play. She laid on the couch watching the door until Andrea arrived. Sounds like the girls had fun, and Nick and I enjoyed a quiet dinner with just the two of us.
2. Saturday Genevieve was running a fever. We kept it down with medicine and it was gone by the next morning.
3. Sunday, Nick and Ellie meet Sophia and Brad at the park. Then we joined them for a later lunch at Jethros (one of our favorite places since it is within walking distance from the condo).
4. Monday morning Genevieve refused to eat. She was not running a fever and was acting normal--- just not wanting to eat. We took her to day-care and at 9:00AM she had only taken 2 ounces. I called the Dr. so we could get her in (since she had the fever on Saturday). By the time we went to our 1:40PM appointment, she was showing a rash on her legs/feet. Sure enough, she had hand, foot and mouth disease. Turns out that is what caused her fever. She got to stay home with Mommy Tuesday and Wednesday. By Tuesday she was back to her normal self, although not eating quite as much as normal.
5. Saturday was also Neve's 5-month birthday. I felt bad that she was under the weather on her special day. We put off our monthly picture taking until Tuesday when she was a little more herself--- although she was still more interested in the milk carton than smiling for the picture.

5 on Friday
1. With Nick on his biking trip, the girls and I headed to Ames last Friday. Ellie got to enjoy s'mores, Reiman Gardens, playing with mommy's Barbies (first time playing with Barbies), and quality time with Grandma and Grandpa. Unfortunately, our trip was cut short with Genevieve getting sick and the girls and I heading back home at 12:15 AM Saturday night.
2. We were at the walk-in clinic bright and early Sunday morning. Ellie was upset that we were going to the Dr. instead of church. I guess it is not a bad thing when your 2.5 year old is crying in the backseat because you are not going to church like she wants to. Sure enough, Genevieve's first ear infection medicine did not take care of it. We are now on antibiotic #2. I hope this fixes it.
3. We went to the house on Monday night. Had a picnic of Jimmy John's on the front stoop. I pulled weeds, while Nick and the girls played at the playground. Highlight of the night was when we meet our new neighbors! I will say, I was a little jealous that they will be moving in August 31st, and we will not be back in until mid-late September. However, they have a little girl who turned 2 in April. A little playmate for Ellie! Now there are four houses in a row with 2-year olds (2 girls and 2 boys).
4. Genevieve is getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. I have asked her to slow down a little, as I do not want a crawler before age 6 months.
5. I went through some of my stuff at my parent's house while we were there last weekend. I brought home a couple of my Barbies and clothes that my mom had made for them. Ellie is in love! She wanted to play with them first thing Sunday morning! She is such a girlie girl.

5 on Friday
1. We ordered new upstairs furniture on Saturday. The new couch and loveseat are a little out of my comfort zone, but I think the color will look good in the main room. We also looked at appliances, but have yet to order those... It is a good thing I like to shop. When I talked with the guy in charge of our rebuild on Monday he mentioned that there was a chance the house would be ready in 3 weeks! I think he was a little optimistic (and he said he might be, too). But even so, getting back in mid-September would be amazing. The end is near!
2. We ventured out to the fair on Tuesday for Farm Bureau's annual "Day at the Fair." We took the girls with us, which meant no nap for Ellie (I was hoping she would take a cat nap on the way to the fair, but she was too excited for that). We ate some food, saw the horses, ate some more food, got a Hawkeye tattoo (the wash-off kind of course), picked up a yard stick for Mommy and grabbed some cookies to take home with us. It was a fairly quick trip--- 2-3 hours (I carried Genevieve in my baby carrier and Ellie walked with Daddy), but we had fun. Ellie's favorite part of the entire trip: the bus ride to and from the fair.
3. Nick left on his fall biking trip yesterday. He is gone from Thursday-Sunday up in northern MN. At first he was not going to go on the trip (he usually goes in mid-September, not August), but I encouraged him to go. It gets him out of the condo (he gets a little stir crazy stuck at home for extended periods of time) and my parents are home so the girls and I can stay with them during the weekend (last year they were out of town during his fall trip). And this way he will be around when we get back into the house and we do not have to worry about moving and the bike trip being at the same time.
4. Ellie is excited to go to Grandma and Grandpa's. She called them Wednesday night to let them know she wanted to go get ice cream with them. I cannot wait to show them the pictures I took of her when she was on the phone with them... that girl loves to talk on the phone. Yesterday morning she thought we should go to Grandma and Grandpa's house instead of to day-care, she was a little upset when I told her no.
5. Since it is just the girls and I on our own (until Friday anyway), I let Ellie decide where she wanted to go after work yesterday (for a fun adventure)... she picked the mall. I tried to talk her into a picnic at the park, but that was a no-go. To the mall we went.

5 on Friday
1. Ellie had her first hair cut this week! She was really excited for Miss Carley to cut her hair. Mommy not so much... just another way my little girl is growing up.
2. Friday night we had friends over for dinner and 'swimming lessons' at the pool. Ellie had a great time with Henry, and both of the kids went under water during lessons! It is amazing how well the two kids played together. They do not see each other that often and are 2 years apart in age, but played like they were the best of friends. I loved it.
3. Saturday we ordered/purchased some replacement furniture and camping supplies. Nick is heading out on a biking trip and realized he would be needing some of the items lost in the garage. It wouldn't be a trip to Homemakers without a cookie! And Ellie was a fan of the fish at Bass Pro Shop. Mommy was not a fan of the fish smell at Bass Pro Shop.
4. Sunday we went to the I-Cubs game. Ellie had been asking to go to a baseball game all summer and some of our friends were going, so we joined them. Ellie loves singing "Take me out to the ball game," so of course we had to get some Cracker Jacks while we were there. Between the Cracker Jacks, ice cream, water fountain (where she got her feet wet), beautiful weather and friends, we all had a great time. After the Sunday games the kids are invited to run the bases on the field. We were a little daring, and let Ellie run them without Nick or I. She made it to second base. Then she was all over the infield... and crying. Daddy saved her. She does not want to run the bases next time.
5. Genevieve has her first ear infection. If she takes after her Mommy, Daddy or sister, she is bound to have a few more. Lucky for us (or unlucky depending on how you look at it), she showed no signs of discomfort. We took her in because she had a significant amount of matter in her eye and day-care thought she might have pink eye. No on the pink eye, yes on the ear infection.

5 on Friday
1. We purchased a new car on Saturday! We now have a big grey car and a little grey car. Ellie was very excited since she got a new pink carseat to go in the big grey car. We ended up going with a Honda Pilot and are in love with it! It will still be our spare car, so it will be driven about once a week. But when we do need a big car to put big purchases in (which we are sure to have a lot in the next year), we have it!
2. The Olympics started! I think NBC needs to start their broadcast a little earlier (say 6PM at night), that way Ellie can watch more of it and I can get to bed earlier. All three of us girls are glued to the TV. Ellie's favorite is swimming... complete with goggles and all. During the bike race on Saturday it was the bike helmet and one of Daddy's spare bike seats. I think we have pictures I will post later.

5 on Friday
1. I forgot to mention Genevieve rolled over a week a go Sunday (7/15). The other day she rolled over, lifted her head up and gave Ellie and I the biggest smile--- she was pretty proud of herself.
2. We had an amazing weekend. Friday night we bathed the girls, cleaned the condo, grocery shopped, did laundry and went swimming. That made the rest of the weekend full of 'play-time' with car shopping on Saturday, a first birthday party for our Godson/nephew/cousin, Liam, on Saturday and a fun day with Nick's relatives in town from TX on Sunday. It was such a perfect weekend and I was really sad for it to end.
3. Tuesday night I got to hang out with one of my college friends who is due with twins in December. It was great to catch up, and be able to do so at the new Other Place (OP) just like in college (without the alcohol due to her pregnancy and my nursing). Oh how times change.
4. Genevieve had a hungry day on Wednesday and Thursday. Complete with a middle of the night feedings, something she has not done since she was 7 weeks old. While I love any cuddle time I get with the little girl (and middle of the night smiles are always appreciated), we do not need to do it on a regular basis.
5. Genevieve turned 4 months old on Wednesday. She has had a very eventful 4 months.
2. We had an amazing weekend. Friday night we bathed the girls, cleaned the condo, grocery shopped, did laundry and went swimming. That made the rest of the weekend full of 'play-time' with car shopping on Saturday, a first birthday party for our Godson/nephew/cousin, Liam, on Saturday and a fun day with Nick's relatives in town from TX on Sunday. It was such a perfect weekend and I was really sad for it to end.
3. Tuesday night I got to hang out with one of my college friends who is due with twins in December. It was great to catch up, and be able to do so at the new Other Place (OP) just like in college (without the alcohol due to her pregnancy and my nursing). Oh how times change.
4. Genevieve had a hungry day on Wednesday and Thursday. Complete with a middle of the night feedings, something she has not done since she was 7 weeks old. While I love any cuddle time I get with the little girl (and middle of the night smiles are always appreciated), we do not need to do it on a regular basis.
5. Genevieve turned 4 months old on Wednesday. She has had a very eventful 4 months.

5 on Friday
1. Another birthday party last weekend and our last one for the month tomorrow. Ellie is going to go through withdrawl.
2. We are huge fans of the $1 Mylar balloons at the Dollar Tree. Our friends had told us about them a while ago, but we never got any. This past weekend we told Ellie she could pick out a balloon if she listened and followed directions. Somehow she ended up with two balloons (I think her sister followed directions as well, or something like that).
3. On Wednesday night I asked Ellie to help pick up her toys so I could clean a little. She cleaned up not only her toys, but her sister's toys as well. At one point I told her I would help her once I got Genevieve to fall asleep. She responded that she did not need my help and was going to do it all by herself. And she did... every single toy. I was, and am, so proud of her!
4. We have colds. At least the three girls in the house. Genevieve and I have it the worst.
5. Ellie is a fan of her "swimming lessons" with Mommy. She is doing pretty well for her age, and will go under water (for M&Ms), front float with help and back float with help. Of course she blows bubbles and puts her eyes and nose in the water. The back floating is her least favorite, I think it is partially because she doesn't like water in her ears (even with earplugs in).

5 on Friday
1. We had family pictures taken on Monday. I waited until the very last minute to put Genevieve in her outfit. Two minutes after she was dressed she had a blow-out poop. Go figure. Here is a preview:
2. Ellie got some new pool toys and a new pool bag this week (OK, I got a new pool bag which Ellie quickly claimed as hers). She was really excited to use them, and with this hot weather Mommy and Daddy were too. We spent the 4th of July with Mike, Megan and Liam. Megan and I laid out by the pool while Mike and Nick watched the sleeping babies. Then we all made a trip to the pool. The water was so warm we even took Genevieve in. She was not in very long, but she seemed to enjoy it.
3. We went to the Blank Park Zoo with the Beltman Family on Saturday morning. I don't think I had ever been there before. It was a great morning trip, with lunch on the lawn before we went home for nap time. Ellie's favorite part was the peacock, and she asks Nick to look at the pictures he took daily.
4. Our house (house, not condo) was broken into 4th of July night/yesterday morning. The only thing they took (they because getting the TV off the wall was not a one person job) was the TV that was still mounted to the wall. The TV was deemed non-cleanable, so it was getting replaced anyway. When they took the TV off the wall they broke a piece off of it. I like to think that whomever ends up with it will be upset to find out that it doesn't completely work (because the piece is missing, so it only hooks up a certain way) and it stinks of fire smoke (a smell that cannot be removed unless they take the TV completely apart). The only stuff left in the house are non-cleanable items, so it isn't like there is anything worth taking... but it is still disheartening that people would do something like that after everything else we are going through.
5. The air conditioner in our condo was not working last night. We tried turning it off for extended periods of time to thaw it out, but that did not work. Thank goodness for my handy husband who researched on the internet to figure out that it was frozen inside the condo and not outside like we were originally thinking. An hour or so of blow-drying with hot air melted the ice and we finally went to bed with a working air conditioner at 1am this morning ('we' meaning Nick and I, the girls were already in bed). Needless to say, we are tired today.
6. To end on a positive note: we have a fun weekend of birthday celebrations, pool time and biking time planned. We cannot wait!

5 on Friday
1. We moved into the condo on Friday! It was a VERY busy day. We were moved out of the hotel by 10AM, rental furniture arrived at 2:30PM, and we had Nick's brother's wedding at 6:30PM. Somewhere in there, I started to get sick and was sick until Saturday evening.
2. Congrats to JAMIE AND JILL LARSON (and boys)! Welcome to the family, sister-in-law and nephew! The weather was beautiful for the outdoor ceremony and a good time was had by all.
3. My parent's came down to watch the girls since it was an evening wedding and Ellie goes to bed early (think 7-7:30PM early). Grandma and Grandpa must have worn both girls out because I woke up at 8:55AM Saturday morning thinking they had been kidnapped since it was so quiet--- seriously, I jumped out of bed and ran into Ellie's room. Nope, they just slept in (they are ALWAYS up by 7:30AM).
4. I think my mom said it perfectly when she said that God doesn't give us more than we can handle. He was watching out for us when He gave us an easy baby, He must have known what was to come with the fire. Happy 3-months to our SUPER EASY baby girl, Genevieve! We cannot imagine our lives without you and love you more than you will ever know.
5. We (our insurance) continues to help aide the local economy. Ellie got a replacement bike trailer (which she LOVES and couldn't wait to use it!), Genevieve got a pack n play (I am a little sad I could not get the one we had before, but the new one works and is a pretty teal color), I got a vacuum (oddly, I am really excited for it) and Nick got a lawn mower (good thing the lawn did not grow that much in 2+ weeks we have been out of the house). I think Nick was surprised last Friday when I asked to take the car-seats out of the car so I could go shopping. Good thing I did.

5 on Friday
1. Genevieve was baptized on Sunday! A big thanks to her Grandparents and Godparents for making the day so special; especially her Godfather's who gave up part of their Father's Day to be with us!
2. Ellie enjoys being able to swim in the hotel pool. Aunt Megan, Uncle Mike and Cousin Liam even joined us on Friday night for some pool time. Liam did a great job for his first time in the big pool.
3. We broke down and turned in our camera to the clean-up crew on Monday. When all of the electronic items upstairs needed to be replaced and since we could not get the smell out we figured it was time to say good-bye. 2 hours later Nick bought a replacement camera. We love our pictures!
4. Pretty much all of the toys in our house are deemed non-cleanable. The plastic absorbs the smoke a lot, and the cleaning products used are not really considered kid safe. I am going to try and clean some of the downstairs wood toys with baking soda and water to see if that will take care of the smell. Wish me luck. If not, looks like Ellie is going to the toy store. While this may sound like fun, when we told Ellie she could pick out a toy on Saturday at Target she said she did not want a new toy- she wanted 'her toys'. Almost broke my heart. We will see how she does on Monday when her replacement Baby Doll arrives.

5 on Friday
1. Friday over the lunch hour we got the call that the house was on fire. It has been a crazy, busy week since then. We are all safe and that is what really matters.
2. Friday thru Wednesday we stayed with my sister and brother-in-law in Ankeny. They are an amazing support system for all of us, and made the transition much easier than it could have been. Thanks Megan and Mike!
3. Right now we are in a hotel. We have a two room suite with breakfast and dinner provided. Hotel living is not ideal, but you do what you gotta do. Ellie likes the free popcorn each night and being able to swim. We are hoping to be in a condo by this time next week.
4. Insurance matters. Not just having it, or how much of it you have, but the company you work with. Ours has been amazing and has made this awful situation bearable.
5. I am torn, I want the next 3-4 months to fly by because I want back in my house with my things. And yet I want to enjoy every second of Genevieve and Eleanor being as young as they are. It makes me sad to think that Neve will be around 6 months old when we get back in the house.

5 on Friday
1. Saturday the girls and I had the pleasure of watching our nieces/cousins, Sammy and Ally, play in a basketball tournament in town. Since we were unable to make it to the lake weekend, this was the first time Genevieve meet the IC crew (minus Aunt Jessie since she couldn't make it). We had a great time, and Sammy and Ally did an amazing job playing in the 8th grade and younger league (they are going into 5th and 3rd grades!) Ellie was shy at first, then opened up and was all over the place.
2. While we were at the basketball games cousin Ruby was sitting on Grandpa's lap. Ellie was not OK with that and quickly said, "MY Grandpa." I explained to her that Grandpa was Grandpa to Ellie, Genevieve, Liam, Sammy, Ally, Izzy, Ruby, Alex and Natalie. I think she sort of understands, but still likes having Grandpa to herself.
3. On Monday night Ellie and I went to the Waukee library to get a library card and sign up for the summer reading program. As part of the reading program Ellie needs to read 10 minutes or one picture book in order to check off that square... since we read every night before bed this should not be a problem.
4. Genevieve is in the process of dropping one of her feedings (going longer between feedings). The transition has caused her get up at 5AM to eat a couple times this week. I know I should not complain because she is such a good sleeper, but I am not a fan. If the transition was not self directed (by her) we would not be doing it. On a positive note, this morning she slept until her normal time of 7AM! Maybe she has figured out her schedule!
5. Yesterday morning Ellie wanted me to wash her hands off after breakfast. I did. Little did I know that in the process I "washed off" her owie. That was not OK, as she started screaming/crying over it--- telling me to "put it back". I tried to explain that an owie going away was a good thing, and she had plenty of owies on her legs to look at. That did not go over well, and at that point I could not help but laugh at the situation. I suggested she go tell Daddy what happened, which she did. On her way back from visiting Daddy she stopped in the doorway of Genevieve's room (where I was nursing), gave me the dirtiest look, and then walked to her room without saying a word. When I was doing her hair a few minutes later I was told not to talk to her. I guess this is yet another preview of how fun the teenage years are going to be. Oh, and after she calmed down she realized the owie was still there.

5 on Friday
1. I made rhubarb pie on Sunday with rhubarb Genevieve and I picked up at my parent's house last Monday. I love rhubarb pie! It had a little bit too much nutmeg and I got the butter flavored shortening instead of the regular stuff (Nick likes the regular stuff), so it wasn't perfect. But it was still yummy.
2. On Monday we put Ellie's swim suit on so she could run through the sprinkles... she was not a fan.
3. Ellie has moved from sippy cups to 'big girl cups'. I ended up ordering Tupperware ones similar to the ones I had as a child. I am not sure who was more excited to get them, Ellie or me.
4. We had Ellie's year parent/teacher conference on Wednesday. Pretty positive all around. The teacher said she needs to work on her shapes (they obviously did not do the shape app on the iPad that Ellie can do with no problem), cutting (we just bought scissors so this is easy to work on) and using her words. I think Ellie is shy when she gets around (new) people, because the girl will not stop talking when she is with us. She is also in a new room and not as familiar with the kids or teachers yet. Since Genevieve had not been at the center very long we opted not to do a conference for her--- and she is only 9 weeks old.

And then we decided to play the Wii and darts. Not to brag, but I won in Wii bowling. And I beat Mike in Wii baseball. OK, I should brag about it because I had an awesome game of bowling, and will most likely never win again. I lost in darts.

5 on Friday
1. I put Genevieve in bed at 9:45PM last night. She talked to her mobile and fan, then feel asleep all by herself. I woke her up at 6:55AM. I guess she decided to officially cut her night feeding out. I am not complaining.
2. Genevieve and I ran errands on Tuesday night while Nick gave Ellie a bath and put her to bed. We went to Younkers to find outfits for our next set of pictures... Neve is not a fan of Younkers and cried the entire time we were there. The minute we were outside she was quiet. And once we got home she was all smiles. I guess she was not in the mood to shop.
3. Since we got cut short on our shopping Tuesday night, I took both girls to Target by myself on Wednesday night. This was the first time I have taken them both someplace by myself. They were great! It helps that Ellie got to look for things for her so she was happy, and Neve slept the entire time. Although I will say that the shopping carts do not hold much when you have a 2.5 year old in the child seat and a infant carrier in the main area. Good thing we did not need big items.
4. I have never been happier to see rain in the forecast! This warm and sunny weather has been taking a toll on the new sod.
5. I am glad to go back to work full-time next week... it is really busy and I need more time to get my work done. I am sad to give up my afternoons with Genevieve and the extra time to get things done around the house.

5 on Friday
1. My first week of half-days back at work has gone really well. It helps that I am swamped with things to do so the mornings fly by. Genevieve seems to be enjoying day-care. Her teachers say she is lots of fun to have in the room and a great sleeper! Whenever I have stopped in she seems to be enjoying herself or asleep in her crib. While I do miss the extra time with her, I was not sad to drop her off the first day.
2. Speaking of being a great sleeper, ever since we pushed the amount of time between feedings (from every 2 hours to 2.5-3 hours during the day), we have had an amazing little night-time sleeper. So amazing that the past few days Genevieve has gone 7+ hours between her last feeding at 10PM and her "middle of the night" feeding. Last night was 7 hours and 45 minutes (she got up at 5:45AM). Pretty close to the 8 hours between feedings that I classify as sleeping through the night--- so I am going to say that Genevieve slept through the night last night! I am shocked because prior to that she was going 4.5-5 hours between night-time feedings. Another highlight is that she goes to bed without a fuss after her last feeding and without any help from Nick or I! Twice this week we laid her in her bed and she talked to her mobile and fan for a few minutes before putting herself to sleep.
3. Another sleeping related note: the other night I let Ellie read books in her bed before she fell asleep. I just asked that she put the books at the end of the bed so when she woke up in the morning she could read books until Daddy or Mommy came to tell her she could get out of bed (she can get in and out of bed by herself now). Sure enough, I went to check on her a couple hours later and the books were neatly piled at the end of the bed just like I asked! Notice that I said neatly, she takes after her Mommy more than her Daddy in that aspect.
4. I bought a baby carrier this week! I am really excited about it, and both Genevieve and Eleanor seems to be fans (Ellie more than Neve since I am still learning how to find the best position for Neve in it). I had a friend that suggested I go to a store in Valley Junction called "Little Padded Seats" to try some of the carriers on. I did and was really impressed with the service I got while there. The gentleman explained the differences between carriers and let me try them all on so I could get a real feel for them. What I really liked was that he did not push one over another, or try to sell me the most expensive one. The carrier is sure to come in handy when we are at the park, walking to the mail box, or doing things around the house when Genevieve wants to be held. Pictures of the carrier in action to come later.
5. Ellie got to go to the zoo for a day-care field trip yesterday. Daddy went with her as a parent helper. Although it was a very quick trip through the zoo, I think they both had a lot of fun. She has already asked about going back with Sophia, Baby Collin, Brad and LuCinda. I told her we could see if they were interested.

So amazing that the past few days Genevieve has gone 7+ hours between her last feeding at 10PM and her "middle of the night" feeding. Last night was 7 hours and 45 minutes (she got up at 5:45AM). Pretty close to the 8 hours between feedings that I classify as sleeping through the night--- so I am going to say that Genevieve slept through the night last night! I am shocked because prior to that she was going 4.5-5 hours between night-time feedings. Another highlight is that she goes to bed without a fuss after her last feeding and without any help from Nick or I! Twice this week we laid her in her bed and she talked to her mobile and fan for a few minutes before putting herself to sleep.
3. Another sleeping related note: the other night I let Ellie read books in her bed before she fell asleep. I just asked that she put the books at the end of the bed so when she woke up in the morning she could read books until Daddy or Mommy came to tell her she could get out of bed (she can get in and out of bed by herself now). Sure enough, I went to check on her a couple hours later and the books were neatly piled at the end of the bed just like I asked! Notice that I said neatly, she takes after her Mommy more than her Daddy in that aspect.
4. I bought a baby carrier this week! I am really excited about it, and both Genevieve and Eleanor seems to be fans (Ellie more than Neve since I am still learning how to find the best position for Neve in it). I had a friend that suggested I go to a store in Valley Junction called "Little Padded Seats" to try some of the carriers on. I did and was really impressed with the service I got while there. The gentleman explained the differences between carriers and let me try them all on so I could get a real feel for them. What I really liked was that he did not push one over another, or try to sell me the most expensive one. The carrier is sure to come in handy when we are at the park, walking to the mail box, or doing things around the house when Genevieve wants to be held. 5. Ellie got to go to the zoo for a day-care field trip yesterday. Daddy went with her as a parent helper. Although it was a very quick trip through the zoo, I think they both had a lot of fun. She has already asked about going back with Sophia, Baby Collin, Brad and LuCinda. I told her we could see if they were interested.
