5 on Friday

1. Eleanor had her first ear infection. It was a rough one- in both ears. She cried from 7:30PM until 1:35AM on Friday night/Saturday morning. The only thing that would help (not stop the crying) was walking around with her. It was a long night for all of us.



2. Her fever from last week, unrelated to the ear infection, finally went away Saturday night. The fever and the ear infection at the same time was not fun.



3. To celebrate the return of our happy child, we went out and bought a new bed on Sunday. Well, we needed a new bed and were finally able to go out and look for one on Sunday.



4. Nick made some really AWESOME red peppers stuffed with croutons and mozzarella cheese. Next time we make them I will take a picture and post the recipe.



5. Ellie is practicing her standing on her own more and more. It is super cute and she is so proud of herself for it.

A not so pleasent memory...

Nick and I were ear infection gurus as children. The above site was a frequent one in my house!

I don't know if we should be glad it took 10 months before Ellie got her first ear infection, or upset because she is only 10 months old. Either way, it sucks!

A virus, a cold and ear infection at the same time... I don't wish that on anyone!

But, she is on the mend now and back to her normal self. Thank goodness.

Eleanor's First Card-Making Project

Ellie's day-care is doing a card-making project and her teachers asked for my help in coming up with ideas. The guidelines are that the kids make the cards...

her room at the time consisted of children 6-weeks to 9 months....

They don't really do much for 'art' projects.

That left fingerprints and footprints.

So here is what we came up with:

The Happy Birthday Card- the flames on the candles are made of Ellie's fingerprints

The Bee Card- I think this one is my favorite. The bees are the fingerprints.

The Footprint Card- The saying on the inside of this card reads: "Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same. -Anonymous"

The Flower Card- the yellow center of the flowers are her fingerprints.

And the Snowmen Card- this one is cuter in person. The background snowflakes are raised using an embossing folder. And the snowmen have glitter on them to add a little something extra. This one contains both Ellie and my fingerprints.

There is also a ladybug one similar to the bee one, but with Eleanor being out sick, we have yet to get red fingerprints to finish it up.

So there they are. Eleanor's first official card project. I am one proud momma!

5 on Friday

1. Ellie got to show off her Grandma at day-care's "Grandparent/Special Person" day last Friday. My mom got to spend 2 hours with Ellie at day-care. I think both Grandma and Ellie had a blast, and I learned a few more things about my little girl (she makes noises when she plays with cars, and she is a little stinker that tries to climb on tables).

2. Ellie and I spent last weekend in Ames with my parents. Grandpa taught Ellie to clap for herself. She was very proud of that. She also enjoyed pumpkin pancakes. Ellie taught Grandma and Grandpa that when she sits in front of them and looks up at them, that means she wants them to pick her up (which they did). She was very spoiled.

3. This week is our Company's United Way Week of Caring. This is my first year on the committee, I never realized how much behind the scene's work goes on. It has been CRAZY busy.

4. Along with it being busy, Eleanor got sick on Tuesday night- a fever. She has been out of commission since Tuesday night.

5. Of course Nick followed Ellie's lead and got sick on Thursday. Since I HAD to be at work, the sick Daddy was in charge of the sick baby. I took the easy way out and picked up dinner on the way home.

Let's home next week is a little more relaxing.

5 on Friday

I almost forgot this week! But here it is:

1) Ellie loved being able to spend time with Grandma & Grandpa Thorson last Sunday.

2) We went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday, it was a beautiful day and we had a great time.

3) Last Friday Nick surprised me with a date afternoon. We had out last week of summer hours, so we left Eleanor at day-care, went out to lunch and caught a movie. It was a great idea and we decided we should do it more often.

4) On Monday we got to brew up some beer. It had been too long and I cannot wait until we get to do it again.

5) Ellie and I are flying solo for the first time since she was born. Nick is in WI for a bike festival. So far, so good.
