Big Girl Bed!

Guess whose big girl bed arrived!    Does she look excited? 

I still need to get some things on the wall, just want to make sure I love the location of the bed before I start putting holes in the wall.

5 on Friday

1. Neve's big girl bed arrived!  She loves it so much she skipped her nap on Saturday so she could sit in bed and enjoy it.   The delivery guys thought it was super cute when they asked where the bed and dresser would be going and the two year old told them exactly where to put it.   She is doing great and stays in bed for the most part (she does get out to grab some books to bring to bed with her each night).

2. Sunday was Ellie's first day of Faith Formation (aka Sunday School) at church.   We are lucky and she has two friends in class with her (our neighbor boy and a girl from her dance class last year).   She loved it and her favorite part was "the snacks."  

3. I went to Penoach Winery with some girl friends Sunday afternoon... beautiful day and fun conversation without little kids running around.   We wrapped up the night with monthly dinner night!

4. It is super cute to check on Neve before I go to bed and find her in bed with a ton of books around her.

5. The girls' Elsa dresses arrived in the mail.  They love them and wear the constantly!   We told them they have to keep them looking nice until Halloween.

Walker Johnson Park

While Daddy was away (in Colorado), the girls will play (with their cousins)! 

 

Here are a few pics from our trip to Walker Johnson Park in Urbandale from earlier in the month.   It was a beautiful day and the park is amazing!

5 on Friday

1. Do you ever stop to think about what happened over the past week and draw a blank?   Happens to me all the time when I write these posts!   Thank goodness for Google Calendar and writing all our events down!

2. This weekend we enjoyed watching the IA/IA State game with our friends in their "Man Cave."  The weather was beautiful and the kids were able to play outside some.   The outcome of the game was not what we would have wanted, but 2-1 is still a winning record.

3.  We also celebrated the 1st birthday of the daughter of one of my college friends.  We were able to spend some time with some of my college friends and their families--- man how our families have grown!

4. Ellie came down with a fever Sunday night, so I stayed home with her on Monday.   I guess Neve decided she wanted to stay home as well, because Nick came home earlier than normal with a sick Neve.  Nick stayed home with both girls Tuesday, and they were back to day-care on Wednesday.

5. They had show-and-tell at preschool for the first time this week.   They needed to bring something that started with the letter Z.   So Nick and Ellie went downstairs to find something... they came up with the Little People Zoo (which is plenty big for those of you who are not familiar with it).   Nick tried to convince Ellie to bring a zipper, but Ellie was set that the zoo (not just the zoo animals) were going to preschool with her.   She had a blast and it sounds like the zoo was a hit (probably because of its size and that it makes noises.)   Next week is the letter Y---- I am thinking yo-yo...

Iowa State Fair

It is about time that I put up a few pictures from our trip to the Iowa State Fair way back in August.   The girls' favorite part was the "Little Hands on the Farm," where they were able to help out on the farm and earn themselves a treat.   Here are our little farmers:

 

5 on Friday

1. With Nick gone on his annual biking trip it was a girls weekend!    We started Friday off with a trip to LifeTime.   I worked out while the girls played at the Kid's Academy, then Ellie took an Arts & Crafts class while Neve & I participated in a Mommy & Me class.  Neve opted not to take a nap, so she headed to bed early while Ellie and I had a movie night.

2. Saturday we headed to the zoo in the morning and the mall in the afternoon.   Once again, Neve boycotted nap so it was an early night in.

3. Sunday we went to the park with my sister and her family.  Three beautiful hours outside!  

4. Nick had a good time on his trip, but I think he enjoyed it when two little girls ran out to greet him when he got home.  They were excited to have Daddy back.

5. Since Nick was gone all weekend, I cash in some of my "kid-free" time and meet my college friends for dinner Monday night.  We all four live within 30 minutes of each other, but haven't seen each other since January!  As always, it was super easy to pick-up right were we left off and we had a great time.  

5 on Friday

1. We had a relaxing Labor Day weekend.   Got a few odds and ends done around the house, dealt with a slight sick Neve (mild case of Hand, Foot and Mouth- maybe?), got the girls' bedrooms painted, and read lots and lots of books.

2. Nick is off on his annual biking trip.  Just us girls for 5 whole days!

3. Since Nick is gone, the girls helped me plan the weekly dinner menu.   Ellie was very excited about that.  Although I was a little concerned when all the food ideas she threw out were restaurants... 

4. Ellie loves doing classroom worksheets.  We even had to ask her teacher for some to do at home.  Her favorite ones are math worksheets (she loves math!), but we have been working on words ones lately.

5. Ellie had her first soccer game on Thursday!  A little warm, but still cute to watch 4 and 5 year old kiddos running up and down the field.
